Brilliant fully professional status Orchestra. Born out of work in 2003,and debut in 2004,under baton of late,great Derek Taylor MBE. Now conducted by PAtrick Burns, the orchestra will perform again for the 150 year celebration of the City of Ipswich
A BRILLIANT Professional Orchestra bsed in Ipswich and performs a Prom Concert in April for Ipswich FEstival; A GALA in october involving up to 300 performers of Orchestral, players, choristers and dancers; and then the Orchestra backs all performers at the Mayor's Carols in December each year.Come to Prom 2013 "Celts in a New World" on April 27th at Civic HAll, and MAyor's CArols 2012 on Dec 8th.at North Ipswich Reserve from 6pm.
Open to professional players in all disciplines. New members can join as novices and spend 12 months as such. Section leaders will decide after one year if a novice has attained the standard required for full membership.
Since 2004,16 novices have come forward. A few realised the standard was high and resolved themselves to apply again later when they have attained a higher level of performance.
About 10 have been successful being accepted to the ranks of permanant members.
